Strengthening capacity and workforce planning

Managing demand across multiple clients requires a clear understanding of both supplier capacity and internal resource.

As claim volumes rise and fall, we manage activity across multiple trades and regions, often through periods of peak demand. Knowing where capacity sits across our network, and how that translates into resource requirements, allows us to respond quickly and maintain consistent service levels.

Following the winter surge, we’ve enhanced how we manage this through our axis platform.

Together, CLIVE and RODNEY form part of our axis ecosystem, strengthening how we plan, forecast and respond to changing demand across our operation.

CLIVE

Contractor Location Intelligence & Volume Estimator

CLIVE gives us a clear view of capacity across our national contractor network.

It tracks supplier capacity by postcode and trade in real time, giving us a clear view of how demand compares with available resource across the country.

Drawing on 12 months of historical activity data, it projects demand at postcode and trade level. It also works alongside axis to measure this against live supplier availability, allowing us to track coverage requirements as demand changes.

This allows us to identify potential pressure points earlier and adjust ahead of demand, ensuring we maintain sufficient headroom across our network.

CLIVE supports:

  • Real-time visibility of supplier capacity by postcode and trade.
  • Forecast demand compared with available network capacity.
  • Early identification of coverage gaps.
  • Improved planning ahead of peak demand periods.

In practice, it strengthens how we balance workloads across a large and geographically diverse contractor network.

RODNEY

Resourcing Operations Dashboard: Needed Employees, Yearly

RODNEY translates that demand into the workforce required to deliver against it.

Drawing on operational data across claims handling and customer contact, it models demand and resource requirements.

Forecast demand is converted into staffing requirements across hourly, daily and monthly timeframes, giving us a clear view of how resource aligns with expected workload.

The model incorporates key operational variables including forecast claim and call volumes, handling times, service level targets, shift patterns and demand variation across the day.

Using these inputs, staffing requirements are dynamically recalculated as forecasts or operational conditions change.

This allows us to identify potential gaps earlier and adjust ahead of demand, ensuring we have the right level of resource in place when it’s needed.

RODNEY supports:

  • Forecast demand translated into staffing requirements.
  • Visibility of required versus available resource.
  • Optimised shift patterns and team sizing.
  • Forward planning for recruitment and training.
  • Improved control of customer wait times.

In practice, it strengthens how we plan and manage resource across our operation.

Supporting consistent service delivery

As demand changes, maintaining visibility across both supplier capacity and internal resource becomes increasingly important.

CLIVE and RODNEY strengthen how we plan, forecast and respond to that demand, helping ensure we continue to deliver consistent service across our clients.

They form part of how our axis platform continues to evolve, giving us greater control over demand, capacity and service delivery across the business.

As demand continues to fluctuate, the ability to align supply and workforce in real time is becoming a defining factor in claims performance.
